Prof. Carsten P. Welsch, PACRI WP2 Leader and EuPRAXIA-DN Coordinator, has been presented with the 2026 MeetEngland Impact Network Award. This prestigious recognition celebrates his exceptional success in attracting major international scientific events to England.
Beyond organizing different specialized workshops, schools, and symposia, scientific events, Professor Welsch played a pivotal role in securing three flagship events for the city of Liverpool:
- The Linear Accelerator Conference (LINAC 2022)
- The International Beam Instrumentation Conference (IBIC 2025)
- and the upcoming International Particle Accelerator Conference (IPAC’29), world’s largest gathering in the field.
The award ceremony took place on 12 February 2026 at the historic Cutler’s Hall in Sheffield. The event brought together a distinguished audience of academic leaders, conference ambassadors, and convention bureaus to celebrate the launch of the national Impact Network.

Professor Welsch has served as an ambassador for Club Liverpool since its inception a decade ago. His long-standing commitment to attracting high-profile business and scientific events to the region has not only elevated the area’s academic profile but has also contributed millions of pounds to the local economy.
The MeetEngland event featured success stories from across the academic and business sectors, highlighting how international conferences act as catalysts for innovation and collaboration. The proceedings included the official presentation of the MeetEngland 2025 Roll of Honour, alongside panel discussions on how strategic partnerships can effectively drive business activity.
The recently launched MeetEngland Impact Network serves as a strategic national umbrella. It unites ambassadors, academic leaders, and sector specialists from across the country to strengthen the work of city-level programmes, ensuring that local academic and industry communities remain globally connected and visible.
